4 cities to be made smart cities – Punjab FM

Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has announced that Jalandhar, Sultanpur Lodhi, Ludhiana and Amritsar will be made a smart city.
The government has earmarked Rs 1131 crore for the Smart City Mission.
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema while presenting the budget today announced that a new jail will be set up in Mohali district.
The government has identified 17 acres of land near Karoran village in Mohali for jail.
Punjab FM also added that new highway to come up from Chandigarh to Pathankot next to Shivalik Hills.
He said that Punjab government is holding consultations with Union Govt and NHAI on project which will provide relief to Kandi areas.
