Chandigarh : The Skill Development Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh successfully organised a 40-hour course on soft skills titled ‘In-Sync: Self, Social and Shared Spaces’. The valedictory of the course was graced by Ms. Pragati Gandhi, an entrepreneur and an internationally recognised coach and speaker. Ms. Pragati interacted with the participants about their learning from the course. The course consisted of forty sessions covering various topics including communication skills, time management, physical fitness, social media, professional ethics, gratitude, sexual health, culture and heritage, building resilience, interview skills, substance abuse, cyber safety, community outreach, sustainability and public speaking using a blend of activities including lectures, discussions, power point presentations, documentaries and circle time. During the valedictory session of the course, 40 participants and 31 student mentors were felicitated.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava reiterated the need to focus on such courses where students are equipped with the requisite skills to enhance their employability quotient. She emphasised that education must prepare students for life after graduation and applauded the initiative of the Skill Development Committee of the college in this regard.
