Awareness is Important to Prevent Cyber-crime

Cyber Awareness shared by Guru Gobind Singh College for Women- Sector 26 Chandigarh

Chandigarh: As we all are aware about the increasing cyber crime cases in the city and to commemorate Cyber Awareness Week, an awareness drive by Raahat Welfare Society of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh was held by visiting Kishangarh village wherein an effort was made to undertake door to door awareness sessions for sensitising the residents of Kishangarh regarding the sky rocketed cyber crimes prevailing in the city.
During the door to door visit team of Raahat Welfare Society, Cyber related fraudulent activities were brought into the limelight of local shopkeepers and they were briefed of certain do’s and don’ts such as not to download any apps, managing social media settings, strengthening the passwords, not to get into the baits used by criminals such as enticing lottery ticket messages, assured them to not share any bank detail or Aadhar card number to unknown people and apprised them of helpline number such as 1930 or visit www.cybercrime.gov.in in times of any cyber crime related events.
College team comprising of four students and two faculty members carried on the task of making people aware of the cyber related crimes and prevention for the same.
