Chandigarh: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today condemned the humiliating behaviour of the Health and Medical Education Minister, Chetan Singh Jouramajra with Dr Raj Bahadur, the Vice Chancellor of the Baba Farid University of Health Science in Faridkot on Friday.
In a statement issued here today, Sidhu urged the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to sack the minister for his insulting act which has demoralised the entire Medical community in Punjab.
The former Health Minister said, Dr Raj Bahadur was an internationally acclaimed doctor and had been serving Punjab selflessly for over 50 years. He said, even during the COVID pandemic it was doctors like Raj Bahadur who helped the state to fight the pandemic.
He said, if the Medical Education Minister thought that the responsibility lied on top, instead of making the VC to lay on the bed, he should have done it himself. “We can’t accept that our doctors, for that matter any public servant, are treated like this”, he said, while adding, it is important to restore and redeem the morale of the medical community which is angry, annoyed and disturbed with Minister’s behaviour.
