Mohali: The MBA first year student Accused in Ghaduan-based Chandigarh University (CU) viral video case has finally got bail after 81 days from Sessions Court, Mohali. She is a first year MBA student in this University. On the other hand, the mastermind accused of this entire viral video scandal, Sanjeev Singh is still in Ropar Jail. Sanjeev is accused of blackmailing the student to get the video. Sanjeev Singh had filed a bail petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the hearing on which is to be held on December 14.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by DGP Gaurav Yadav on the instructions of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to investigate this high profile case, which has been discussed all over the country, has even presented the challan in the Kharar court.
The challan is against the accused student and Sanjeev only, there is no mention of Shimla’s Rankaj Verma and Sunny Mehta in the challan, which makes it clear that both of them have got a clean chit from the police in this case.
In this case, the photo of Rankaj Verma was used by the accused Sanjeev as DP on his whatsapp account. He used to chat with the student with this DP. On the other hand, Sunny Mehta had an earlier friendship with the CU student, due to which he came under suspicion. These two have nothing to do with this case, this fact was made clear by the SIT in the challan.
The mastermind of this whole case turned out to be Sanjeev Singh, a resident of Sambha, Jammu, in whose trap the CU student got caught and started chatting with the accused Sanjeev after seeing Rankaj’s photo in the DP, even sharing her objectionable photo with him. Once Sanjeev got the photo, he started blackmailing, asking for photos of other girls.
The students of the university had staged a protest on the night of September 17 after some women students of LC Hostel of the university had alleged that their hostel mate was making their objectionable videos.
Following the protest, a complaint was lodged with the local police and a case was registered. Three accused, including the woman student, were arrested the same day. The police said that there were no videos of any other woman in the cell phone of the woman accused and that she had sent only her video to her friend.
