Deputy Commissioner urges the youth to avail maximum benefit

Chandigarh: Already more than 400 applicants have registered for “What an Idea- A Startup Challenge”
was launched by the District Administration in association with District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises, (DBEE) SAS Nagar to provide a platform to the young minds to start their own businesses.
Mentoring and handholding will be provided by experts to initiate the project and also cash prizes will be given to the first three winners from the Students and Open categories.
The Programme was launched on 17-01-2023, by the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. Ashika Jain, I.A.S. in the presence of ADC (Dev.) Avneet Kaur and DBEE Incharge, Meenakshi Goyal, leading Industrialists and Industrial Associations of District Mohali.
In this regard, Mrs. Ashika Jain, I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar briefed that she held a detailed meeting with various organisations and Incubation Centres located in the vicinity such as Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), Software Technology Park of India (STPI), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Indian School of Business (ISB), Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) and Innovation Mission (IM) Punjab to seek their support for the ‘What an Idea- Startup Challenge’.
DBEE officials along with IM Punjab team, vigorously and aggressively, held more than 50 wokshops at various educational institutions, BDPO offices and villages to sensitize the students and general public and also to motivate them to take part in the challenge. As a result of this, a total of 403 applications have already been received and there are still two days to go for closing date of the applications which is 15-02-2023.
Deputy Commissioner also apprised that the Startup Challenge is intended to provide a platform for mentoring and handholding of budding entrepreneurs. The Incubation centres provide facilities such as co-working spaces, seed money and mentoring across various sectors. She again appealed to the students and general public to come forward and get themselves registered with the programme and make this initiative a huge success.
Interested candidates can submit their applications at till 15-02-2023.
