Mohali: If our environment will be good, then surely our health will also be good because a clean and healthy environment is directly connected with our good health.
This was stated by District Epidemiologist Dr Shalinder Kaur at a district-level awareness event held on the occasion of world environment day at district hospital here today. Awareness events were also held in government health institutions across the district. Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Renu Singh graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Addressing the event, the district epidemiologist said that the theme this year is to reduce the use of plastic and eliminate plastic pollution. She said that by planting more trees all around, keeping everything clean, using less water, using energy-efficient appliances, reducing the use of plastic, following energy and water conservation methods, etc. we can make a significant contribution in saving the environment. She added that although the period of environmental change is going on rapidly all over the world, our united and concerted efforts can surely succeed in this direction.
Meanwhile, students of Saraswati College of Nursing and Ratan Professional Education College performed plays promoting environmental protection, and displayed their art by making beautiful rangolis and posters. Certificates were also distributed to the winners. Senior medical officer Dr. HS Cheema, Dr. Vijay Bhagat, Dr. Parminderjit Singh, Dr. Babandeep Kaur, District Mass Media Officer Harcharan Singh Brar, Health Inspector Harvinder Singh Chhina, Health Workers Baljit Singh, Harpreet Singh etc. were present on the occasion.
