Will there be any action against encroachments on roads????

Mohali: In the absence of any effective step taken by the authorities, encroachments on the government land and roadside have increased manifold across Mohali. The municipal bylaws, which prohibit anyone from carrying out any business activity on road berms, are being violated with such impunity that no roads or foot path in Mohali has been spared of encroachments.
Residents added, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had appealed to those having encroached panchayati lands to vacate it and said that they should vacate the land by May 31, or the government would impose the penal rent and as Punjab government has launched a special drive to remove illegal encroachments from panchayat lands across Punjab will the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) do something about the encroachments on roads.
Residents added, the problem is common across the city, it has assumed alarming proportions in the last few months on several inner and outer roads.
A visit by the Team The Aman Sandesh Times revealed that almost all main roads, road berms and verandahs outside the shops have been taken over by shopkeepers and street vendors.
The situation is worst on road opposite Phase 4 Mandir, Diplast Chowk towards MadanPur –Phase2 and 4 dividing main road. Who Cares???

Ms Navjot Kaur Commissioner Mohali Municipal Corporation stated she will personally look into the matter and take appropriate action as per the law in the coming days.
