Mohali: People from all ages celebrated the festival of colours, there was a charm among kids as well as youngsters all over the nation. Most of the people were seen celebrating Holi with traditional fervour and gaiety as people smeared ‘gulal’, threw balloons filled with colour on each other and exchanged sweets.
People were seen visiting friends and relatives, who gifted ‘gujia’ (a traditional sweet) besides smearing ‘gulal’ (colour powder) on each other’s faces.
Colours of all hues and the smell of gulal pervaded streets as people of all ages celebrated the festival.
Children holding ‘pichkaris’ in their hands chased each other and hurled water-filled balloons on people, passer-by’s from rooftops of their houses.
On the other hand Police teams were seen patroling in Mohali and other parts of the country who had made elaborate arrangements to ensure a safe and joyous Holi for all.
A warning was issued against hooliganism, while special teams of traffic police along with police control room vans and local police were deployed at many places to check incidents of drunken driving, speeding and reckless driving.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar extended greetings to the people on the festival of colours.
