Karigari held at MCM

Chandigarh : The Department of Home Science at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised Karigari- a skill based workshop on cloth bag making. The aim of the workshop was to promote the use of eco-friendly cloth bags instead of single use plastic bags. Ms. Rati Arora, Assistant Professor, Home Science Department of the college was the resource person for this workshop. The participants learnt the art of making different types of cloth bags with varied embellishments. Ms. Arora demonstrated various techniques and creation of design features like tassels, pompoms, bows and fabric hangings, etc. by using old materials at home. At the end of the workshop, the participants’ work was displayed and the best entries were awarded cash prizes.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated the initiative of the department to promote eco-friendly, sustainable way of life. She motivated the students to adopt the habit of using cloth bags instead of plastic bags and also to generate awareness about eco-friendly alternatives to plastic.
