Main objective of campaign is to make cities green, clean and hygienic- Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar

Mohali : Local Bodies Minister Punjab Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar today launched the ‘Mera Shehar-Mera Maan’ campaign from Mohali, the campaign that aims to cover 12 Municipal Corporations and Class-1 Urban Local Bodies of the state to make them clean, green and hygienic. After launching the campaign program in district Mohali, the Minister also inspected the cleanliness of the sewerage, roads and parks.
While, addressing the gathering Local Bodies Minister Pb Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that ‘Mera Shehar-Mera Maan’ campaign aims to make our cities clean and green and added the main objective of this campaign is to create awareness about various aspects of sanitation as well as to provide a better standard of living to the residents.
Pb local bodies Minister, Dr. Nijjar said that community participation is essential to make any campaign successful and added that under this campaign various activities involving participation from residents of ULB will be carried out on every Friday in different wards, and said that the officials will visit the wards in advance, to ensure that the activities are carried out satisfactiorly.
Dr. Nijjar said that the people of the wards, community leaders, religious leaders, NGOs/socio-religious organizations and local political leaders will also be involved to make Mera Shehar-Mera Maan a community based campaign and further stated that ULBs should also encourage the formation of Ward Committees/Mohalla Committees to ensure effective cleanliness of their wards/Mohallas on a regular basis.
Speaking on this occasion MLA Mr. Kulwant Singh said Pb. Government led by CM Bhagwant Singh Maan started the campaign ‘Mera Shehar-Mera Maan’ to raise the standard of living of the people and to make cleanliness a part of daily life and appealed the public to cooperate and support the administration as well the government so that the aim of the campaign be achieved.
On this occasion, a play was also presented by the school children on the topic of adopting cleanliness and stopping the use of plastic.
Ms. Isha Kalia MD, PMIDC, Mr. Amit Talwar Deputy Commissioner Mohai, Mr. Vivek Sheel Soni SSP, Ms. Navjot Kaur Commissioner MC, Mr. Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu Mayor, Ms. Sarabjit Kaur SDM Mohali, Amrik Singh Somal Sr Deputy Mayor, Kuljit Singh Bedi Deputy Mayor, Mr. Vineet Verma, State President Beopar Mandal AAP, Adv Amardeep Kaur, State V President Beopar Mandal AAP, Prabhjot Kaur Distt Incharge AAP Mohali, Ms Davinder Kaur MC Mohali and others were present to grace the occasion.
