Mohali: Mohali residents face the problem of waterlogging during monsoon every year and had requested the concerned departments that inadequacies in the drainage system of flood-prone areas must be reviewed well in time and requested the departments concerned to clean drains, repair roads and clear vegetation from nullahs before monsoon.
Residents added that MC authorities should find a solution to the clogging of road gullies and must ensure that these are cleaned before the onset of monsoon. Residents added that choked drains cause waterlogging on roads in few minutes of rain, particularly in low-lying areas. This is because of wrappers and litter, along with fallen leaves, that reach the drains and clog them. If the road gully covers have a wire mesh instead of wide holes, the problem could be solved to a great extent. The mesh will only allow water to go into the drain.
President Sooch Sewa Samiti Atul Sharma said, the need of the hour is to carry out physical inspection of road gully traps and clear these of debris or waste. Periodic cleaning of all road gully traps holes should be done to avoid such a situation, MC should look for the weak spots to end monsoon woes. But Who Cares???

A letter has been written to DC Mohali, MC Commissioner Requesteing that Prior to the onset of monsoon, the MC should conduct a survey and identify waterlogging-prone spots and do the needful to avoid waterlogging and potholes should be filled to avoid any mishap.
