MCM celebrates National Youth Day

Chandigarh: Celebrating 38th National Youth Day on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the college’s NSS units and Young Communicators Club, organised an Indian Council of Philosophical Research sponsored Periodic Lecture titled ‘A Friend Request From Vivekananda’.
While, inaugurating the lecture, Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava hailed Swami Vivekananda as a major force behind reform movements, highlighting his efforts to spread the message of eternal Vedanta philosophy and to seek foreign assistance and technical knowledge for India’s development. Paying tribute to this distinguished son of Mother India, Dr. Bhargava added that Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy is life transforming and his life journey is so inspiring that students can learn many valuable lessons from him.
Resource person Sudhir Baweja, Coordinator, Department of Philosophy and Vivekananda Studies, USOL, Panjab University said that if you want to be a person with muscles of iron and nerves of steel, then Swami Vivekananda’s friend request awaits you and impressed upon the youth to befriend Vivekananda through reading of his writings and emulating his lessons in one’s life.
Referring to Vivekanada as the eternal youth icon, Sudhir Baweja shared Swamiji’s toolkit that can transform anyone into a beautiful person and help him/her achieve true success in life. He elaborated on Swamiji’s toolkit for success that includes not yielding to weaknesses, ‘shraddha’ (self confidence), conviction in the power of goodness, absence of jealousy and suspicion, helping those who are trying to do good, positivity, character, focus, and so on. The lecture ended with an interactive session wherein the participants put forth their queries to the expert.
