Chandigarh: To mark the celebration of Panjab University G20 fortnight, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised various competitions. The competitions envisioned to raise awareness among students about India’s G20 presidency, composition and functioning of G20 and its importance. The Department of Political Science conducted an online Essay Writing Competition on the theme ‘Tradition of Local Self Governance’. Poster Making Competition was organised by the Department of Fine Arts on the theme ‘Youth and Democracy’. In another event, the Electoral Literacy Club of the college organised Quiz on the theme ‘Democracy in India’. Over 73 students participated enthusiastically in these events.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative of the organising team to educate students about G20, its functioning, agenda, etc. She said that it is important for the youth to know about G20 as it plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global governance on all major international economic issues.
Winners of Essay Writing Competition were:
First position was bagged by Jessica Saini of BA III, Second position by Angelina Parai of BA I and Third position by Pawani of BA II.
Winners of Poster Making Competition were:
Ramandeep Kaur of BA II got First position, Sejal of BAI and Mimansa of BA I got Second and Third positions, respectively. Avneet of BA III, Amanjot of BA I, and Anusha of BA I bagged consolation positions.
Winners of Quiz were:
Team comprising of Aakshima and Samarpreet of BA II won First position, Navneet and Divyanshi of BA II bagged Second position and Sumedha and Vanshika of BA I got Third position.
