Chandigarh: With the primary objective of enhancing students’ understanding of the key soft skills and how these help to complement one’s existing skill set for a better future, a two-day course on Soft Skills was organised by Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh. A recognised Vocational Education Nai Talim Experiential Learning (VENTEL) Action Plan Institution, the college organised the course in association with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Govt of India. The resource person for the event was Ms. Deepika Sharma, Assistant Professor, Communications at Chandigarh College of Hospitality, CGC Landran, Mohali. Ms. Deepika emphasised the importance of learning and strengthening soft skills. She shed light on the various soft skills including communication skills, presentation skills, body language, etc., that are essential for a successful career. Interactive assignments and tasks on team work made the participants learn the art of decision making, adaptability and confidence. The event witnessed participation of 50 students.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava stressed on the importance of honing soft skills for providing an edge to one’s career in this era of cut-throat competition. She added that such initiatives are a regular feature at the college as it strives to ensure holistic development of its students.
