MCM holds online session

Chandigarh: The Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, under the aegis of Institution Innovation Council (IIC), organised an online session ‘Lean Startup and Minimum Viable Product/Business’.
126 students and faculty members attended the webinar.
Dr. Japneet was the Resource person, who deliberated on the requirements for lean startups wherein testing of business model hypotheses was emphasised upon. She further discussed the essential steps: Build- Measure-Learn to be followed for a successful business venture.
Dr. Japneet focused on the need of customer-related information such as customer churn rate, lifetime customer value and product popularity as important pillars of startups.
The lecture was very well supported with practical examples like Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, etc. which have made a mark in the business world.
In another event, the IIC held a competition on ‘Case Study Analysis on Intellectual Property Rights disputes between Indian Companies’.
The competition intended to enrich students’ understanding of intellectual property rights and copyrights.
Around 52 students enthusiastically participated in this competition to showcase their thinking and creative skills.
The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava, appreciated the efforts of the Institution Innovation Council and the Economics Department to inculcate innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture in students through various such initiatives. She added that such initiatives are imperative to build ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
