
Chandigarh : In keeping with its reputation of being a pioneer on varied fronts, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Police. The MoU aims to promote Cyber Security, Human Rights, Gender Sensitisation and emerging Police technologies. The MoU was exchanged in a state level function wherein Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest.
The other dignitaries present during the event included Shri Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Hon’ble Administrator, Shri Nitin Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh, Madam Sarabjit Kaur, Chandigarh Mayor, Shri Praveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP, Chandigarh and I4C, MHA Director Shri Ashok Kumar besides many more senior officials. The college figured majorly in the event wherein the students of the college gave a presentation on Cyber Swachhta Mission of the Government of India. A report written by the students who worked as Cyber Interns with Chandigarh Police and by their Coordinator Dr. Minakshi Rana was also released on this occasion. The students of the college who brought laurels by winning first, third and fourth prize in the Cyber Swachhta Mission Internship, held in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, under the aegis of Digital India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, were also awarded during the event. These awardees were among the 78 students of the college who had successfully completed 6 months internship as Cyber Soldiers with Chandigarh Police.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava asserted that this MoU is a big milestone in the industry-academia partnership. She added that cyber security is an issue of grave concern in this era of digitalisation and such endeavours are the need of the hour.
The Cyber Interns awarded during the function are:
First Prize: Ojaswani Bhargav (BCA-II) with cash prize of Rs 25000
Third Prize: Gurpreet Kaur (BA-I) with cash prize of Rs 15000
Fourth Prize: Jasmine (BA-I) with cash prize of Rs 5000
