Mohali’s Phase 10 market declared ‘Clean Street Food Hub’ and NIPER as ‘Eat Right Campus’

Mohali: The phase 10 market and NIPER Mohali have been declared ‘Clean Street Food Hub’ and ‘Eat Right Campus’ respectively. Besides this, certifications for hygiene ratings have also been given to some Food Business Operators in the district. ADC (D) Mrs Avneet Kaur presented the certificates to the concerned officials here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Avneet Kaur said the certificates have been given under the Food Safety and Standards Act. She said that an audit agency of FSSAI had visited these places few days back and conducted inspections there as per the said act. A team of the district health department had fully cooperated in carrying out the inspections. As per the report of the agency, these ratings have been given to the concerned. During the inspection, the team took into account various parameters, especially hygienic and clean eating conditions. 5 star rating has also been given to Hotel Dreams Inn in Dhakoli and Haldiram Mohali.
Meanwhile, District Health officer Dr Subhash Kumar said that the district health department is fully committed to ensure the availability of quality and clean food items to the people. He said that under the Food Safety Act, it is mandatory for every FBO to sell pure, unadulterated and nutritious items. Strict legal action will be taken if any shopkeeper violates this law. He also appealed to the people to be vigilant and sensitized and not to compromise on quality while purchasing food items. He added that the district health department is organizing camps at different places in the district and making food licenses and certificates of the concerned. Food Safety Officer Ravinandan Kumar, NIPER and market officials were present on the occasion.
