Chandigarh: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Border Security Force and Panjab University, Chandigarh to improve the performance of sports persons and better management of sports injuries by the use of scientific methodologies. The MoU was signed by Sh P V Rama Sastry, IPS, ADG on the behalf of BSF and Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar, PU on behalf of Panjab University, Chandigarh in presence of Prof Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University.
BSF has set up a comprehensive facility in the form of Sport Performance Enhancement Centre(SPEC) at HQ SPL DG BSF(WC), Chandigarh with a vision to ensure scientific nurturing of inner talent of athletes and honing their games and sports skills. BSF has already created a niche at National and International levels in the domain of Sports excellence by working on the optimum utilization of human potential.
Panjab University is a premier academic hub which has a rich legacy of sports, known for producing many world class athletes. The University will provide the necessary academic guidance/assistance and affiliation to the courses being run at SPEC BSF Chandigarh.
Both the institutions have committed themselves to set new benchmarks in the area of sports through following joint ventures:-

  1. Sports and its allied field academic programs as joint ventures.
  2. Exchange of expertise with each other.
  3. Organizing of Sports competitions jointly.
  4. Exchange of information about coaching using scientific techniques, benefitting both the institutions mutually.
    This MoU is first of its kind and shall open many new avenues for the sports persons of Panjab University and BSF.
