Mohali: Once again appealed to the Food Business Operators (FBO) of the district that under the Food Safety Act, every FBO is required to obtain a Food Safety License or Registration Certificate and the whole process of getting registered is online.
District Health officer Dr Subhash Kumar said that it is mandatory for every FBO to obtain a registration certificate or state license from the Food Safety Wing of the District Health Department. He said that if the annual sale of food items is above Rs. 12 lakh or the daily sale is above 3-4 thousand rupees, then it is mandatory for them to get a state license by paying an annual fee of 2000/- rupees. Those food business operators or hawkers whose income is less than 12 lakh rupees, they can get a registration certificate for which the annual fee is 100/- rupees. Dr. Subhash added that those businessmen who have registered by paying an annual fee of Rs 100/- but their annual sale is above 12 lakh rupees, they must get a state food license according to their business because giving wrong information is punishable under Section 61 of the Food Safety Act.
The district health officer said that for getting a registration certificate or license, there is no need to visit the Health department or Civil Surgeon office. Registration certificate or state license can be obtained by applying online at www.foscos.fssai.gov.in for which government fee is charged. He said that those businessmen who have a yearly sale of more than 12 lakh rupees can make the modification on the website itself.
