Pb CM Bhagwant Mann makes big statement on Bharat Bhushan Ashu’s arrest

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said former Cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has been arrested as there were evidences against him.
“Law is doing its work. We promised to people that action will be taken against those who looted Punjab & this arrest is part of that. We’re not doing any political vendetta. We don’t take action without evidence,” Pb CM Mann said.
Former Food and Supply minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu was arrested up by a team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau from Ludhiana, for irregularities in the tender allotment scam as the confession of a contractor, Telu Ram, who was earlier arrested and was at present under custody in the case pertaining to a scam involving transportation of foodgrains during the previous Congress government, led to the arrest of former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu the Vigilance Bureau officials said.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu is the second minister from the previous Congress government to have been arrested by the AAP government on charges of corruption. In June, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested former minister and Congress leader Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on corruption charges.
State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said that the Bureau, after verification of a complaint made by complainant Gurprit Singh, has already registered FIR No. 11 Dated August 16, 2022, under sections 420, 409, 467, 468, 471, 120-B IPC and 7, 8, 12, 13(2) Preventions of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau police station Ludhiana in which contractors namely Telu Ram, Jagroop Singh and Sandeep Bhatia besides owner/partners of Gurdas Ram and Company has been booked, according to the Vigilance Bureau.
