Mohali: In connection with the International Women’s Day celebrated every year on March 8, a cycle rally was taken out by the District Health Department.
Civil surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur flagged off the cycle rally from the district hospital. Addressed the rally the civil surgeon said that the purpose of this rally is to create awareness for good and healthy health of women. She said that Women’s Day reflects the progress of women who are fighting in different fields. The District Health Department has taken out a rally to convey the message that physical and mental health of women is very important for the all-round progress of the country.
She said that women should take time out of their busy schedule to ride cycles etc. for the health of their body and mind so that they can stay away from various diseases. The civil surgeon said that cycling is a good exercise for every person. She said that some diseases are related to food habits and our lifestyle. There is always a need to keep the body busy. Morning walk, light exercise, cycling, swimming, minimal use of oil, salt, ghee, sweet, flour etc. and avoiding fast food etc. are some of the rules that can play an important role in our health. Se also said that complete medical examination of the body from time to time can save us from serious diseases.
Most of the cyclists participating in the rally were women. Everyone was also given bags and refreshments. On this occasion, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Nidhi Kaushal, Dr. Parminderjit Singh and other officers were present.
