Mohali: Fixing of flex banners has increased manifold in Mohali, residents say now it is common to see number of posters/flexes/ banners tied with rope on road berms causing great inconvenience to pedestrian on footpaths and adds the risk of accidents.
Flex banners carrying advertisements of several organisations such as schools, commercial residential plots and others can be found on many poles either hanging or tied, though it is illegal to use the poles for publicity, one can see the rampant use of flex banners in poles at several places in Mohali.
Raman Kumr Saili BJP Mandal President said, it seems that concerned officials or workers have turned a blind eye to the violations and blamed the officials for their inaction. “Since no action is taken against the violators, many use the poles to place the advertisement materials free of cost.”
Residents points that the illegal publicity materials are well placed on the poles for which no action is taken and added that such practise of fixing banners illegally is causing great loss of revenue to Mohali Municipal authorities and demanded that it is high time to lay down strict policy on this issue and defaulters must be taken to task. But Who Cares???
