Mohali: Commuters, residents, and industrialists in Mohali have been facing inconvenience on a daily basis owing to the poor condition of roads in Mohali.
Residents and commuters added that even the officials of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and Municipal Corporation besides area councilors seem to have turned a blind eye to this problem.
A large number of commuters using four-wheelers and two-wheelers are made to pass through Spice Light Point broken stretch towards Cheema boiler Lights in Industrial Area Phase 7 Mohali every day, risking their lives.
Industrialists complained, despite paying of heavy taxes “Potholes have not been repaired for a long time in Industrial Area and added, we do not remember when the stretch was last repaired. Potholes, dust, and gravel pose a safety hazard, especially to the lives of two-wheeler riders.
The roads in the Industrial area of Mohali are in bad shape and demanded prompt action by the concerned and added that the stretch has a heavy rush of vehicles and potholed-filled roads add to the risk at night.
Residents added, “It is not just a matter of a handful of bad stretches. Roads in the entire Mohali are littered with potholes and bad patches. In some areas, dug-up portions for laying of sewerage have not been repaired for years. The bad condition of roads leads to sudden braking by vehicles, leading to wear and tear. The movement of vehicles becomes haphazard, thereby increasing the chances of accidents.
Municipal Commissioner Mohali Ms. Navjot Kaur, PCS added concerned teams have been instructed to complete the patchwork on bad stretches in Mohali and all major roads will be repaired in a month or two.
