Protest by restaurant and bar workers in Chandigarh
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Bar & Restaurant Association along with its workers staged a protest over their long pending demands. Around 1000 restaurant workers and owners, after closing their outlets, dressed in black clothes and tied black bands on their foreheads, went on a fury march from Sector 26 Madhya Marg.
Protesters were holding placards of their demands in their hands and were seen pleading to the government.
The office bearers of the association said that they have been pleading to the Administration for their demands for almost 9 years but they have not got any justice despite the assurances of MP Kirron Kher and firm assurance of Administrator.
Protesters added that their outlets are sealed or notices are pasted, restaurant owners say what is the fault of their workers, we have given them employment for 10 years and they are taking care of their families, where will they go in such an uncertain environment. The restaurant owners said that the restaurants and clubs of Sector 26 and 7 are paying the highest GST in Chandigarh and providing employment, but still the administration is ignoring them, and demamded that they should be heard as soon as possible.
What are the demands
Notification of change in bye-laws should be issued like in other sectors including permission to cover back courtyard.
