Punjab Police carries out search drive across state against gangsters & drug mafia

Chandigarh: To nab the gangsters’ network active in the state and curb the drug menace, Punjab Police led by DGP IPS Gaurav Yadav carried out cordon and search operation across the state.
As per the Exclusive information with Babushahi Network, IPS officer Gaurav Yadav deputed 26 IPS officers of DIG/IGP rank to carry out search operations across districts of Punjab from 11 am to 3 pm on July 9.
DGP Gaurav Yadav led the search operation in Kharar.
“Under this search operations, our teams are focussing on nabbing anti-social elements, drugs networks, gangsters. We are also carrying out this search operation to instill a sense of security among the public. It is to check the movement of bad elements,” stated DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Yadav shared that under the search operation, the police will carry out house-to-house checking. He said that they will also be checking the tenants who are dwelling without proper identification and also verifying the inputs they have received.
“The idea is to mobilize the police and interact with the public one-to-one. We will continue to carry out such operations,” he added.
1992-batch IPS officer Gaurav Yadav who was appointed officiating DGP Punjab last week after DGP Viresh Kumar Bhawra ’s leave period said that his main priorities are drug mafia and gangsters.
“Our police force will function professionally. Our focus is also on basic policing. The department will also work toward police welfare. We will improve the quality of policing comprehensively so that we can provide better service to the public,” stated. Gaurav Yadav.
He said that there are around 10,000 vacancies in the Punjab police.
“The is a huge shortage of workforce but we are working towards strengthening the police force too. We will expose and break the supply chain of gangsters and drug mafia,” he added.
