Nawanshahr: District SBS Nagar Police claims to have busted an inter-district gang of snatchers involved in snatching cases by arresting all the three gang members.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar, PPS, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar while sharing details with the media here today said that on Tuesday, Umraon Singh R/o of Village Garhpadhana PS Aur Distt SBS Nagar informed that two young persons namely Balwinder Kumar of Village Aur Distt SBS Nagar and Satnam Singh son of Bhag Singh resident of village Barwa P.S. Nurpur Bedi District Roopnagar snatched his mobile phone by threatening him with datar when he was going to his fields. A FIR dated 31.05.2023 U/s 379-B, 34 of IPC registered against both the accused at P.S. Aur. On the same day, police party led by SI Balvir Singh PS Aur arrested both the accused from a religious place at village Mallan Bedian and recovered two datars used by them along with one motorcycle stolen by them from Ghanta Ghar Chowk Ludhiana. They used this motorcycle for robbing the people by pasting a forged number plate on it.
Both these accused along with their third accomplice Ranjit Singh son of Makhan Singh resident of Ratainda PS Mukandpur also snatched a Mobile Phone Iphone-6 and a silver chain from Tirath Singh resident of Village Mahal Khurd P.S Aur at datar point when he was walking on road with his friend Gurdit Singh. On the statement of Tirath Singh, a case FIR No. 34/2023 U/s 379-B, 34 IPC has also been registered at P.S Aur. On dated 01.06.2023, third gang member Ranjit Singh also arrested by police team of police Station Aur.
The above said three accused also snatched Rs. 4000/- and two mobile phones from a couple namely Jaspal Kanda and Renu Bala of Village Mallan Bedian on Datar point on dated 17.05,2023 near their village when they both were going to their village from Nawanshahr. On which, a case FIR No. 35/2023 U/s 379-B, 34 IPC was gistered at P.S Aur.
Besides this, above three accused also snatched cash of Rs. 2500/- and a mobile phone in the area of police station Rahon from Azad Ahmed resident of Sugar Mill Colony Nawanshahr on dated 28.05.2023. They also snatched cash from Bari Lal resident of Nawanshahr (looted near village Bhartan Kalan) and from Boota Singh of Village Garcha (looted on Tajpur Khojan Road), on which case FIR No. 44/2023 U/s 379-B IPC has been registered at P.S. Rahon against them in which accused remained to be arrested for further investigation.
From the thorough investigation of cases and from the interrogation of all the accused it is revealed that the gang had looted several people on in the area of Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Garhshankar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur on deserted roads by showing them datars and snatched their mobile phones, chains and cash. Twelve mobile phones, one silver chain and one motorcycle along with two datars have been recovered from all these three accused.
