Farmers Assured of Smooth Procurement Process: DC Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal

Jalandhar: In a significant development, the Punjab government has ensured the disbursement of ₹1792 crore for paddy procurement in Jalandhar district. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, while reviewing the ongoing paddy procurement arrangements, assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a seamless and efficient process for farmers.

Addressing concerns about the procurement process, Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that the administration is focused on ensuring timely payments, smooth lifting, and adherence to all guidelines for procurement in the mandis (markets). “The government is monitoring the situation continuously to make sure there are no issues for the farmers,” said Dr. Aggarwal.

As per the information shared district has received a total of 803,739 metric tons of paddy so far, of which 799,429 metric tons have already been procured by various agencies. A rapid paddy lifting process is also underway, with 398,789 metric tons lifted until now. Deputy Commissioner assured that the lifting process will be further accelerated in the coming days, with instructions already given to relevant officials to ensure swift action.

Dr. Aggarwal made it clear that any delays in the procurement process will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against negligent officials. He directed that paddy lifting be carried out in an organized and efficient manner across all grain markets in the district.

Reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to purchasing every grain of the farmers’ crops, Dr. Aggarwal assured that the district administration will continue to work diligently to ensure the smooth implementation of the procurement process and the welfare of the farming community.
