In a significant move to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the demarcation of mining sites, the Jalandhar District Administration has procured a new Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS). This technological upgrade is expected to streamline the monitoring and regulation of mining activities across the district.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal evaluated the progress of various ongoing development projects being implemented under multiple government schemes. He directed officials from different departments to promptly submit Utilization Certificates (UCs) for completed works and urged timely execution of the pending projects.
Dr. Aggarwal reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment to delivering world-class civic amenities and highlighted that several new initiatives will be launched in the coming days to accelerate overall development.
Among the key projects reviewed were the upgradation of the district drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, construction of Dhogri Road, establishment of a cricket beat box at BMC Chowk, development of new roads, and setting up libraries in government schools. The Deputy Commissioner instructed departments to ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timelines.
He also emphasized that there is no shortage of funds for development and called for submission of new project proposals. Senior officials were directed to maintain strict oversight of project implementation to guarantee quality and timely completion.
Additionally, the district administration has initiated the construction of model playgrounds in all villages across Jalandhar to promote sports culture and youth engagement at the grassroots level.
