Police at PS Gate Hakima have registered an FIR under Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957, after uncovering a large-scale operation manufacturing, packaging, and distributing counterfeit Tata Salt.
The complaint was filed by Speed Networks, Chandigarh, the authorized representative of Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL). Officials said the operation involved extensive production and sale of fake Tata Salt and other products bearing the company’s trademark, posing serious health risks to consumers and damaging the brand’s reputation.
Authorities stressed that such activities violate both the Copyright Act and the Trade Marks Act, and strict action has been demanded against all individuals and entities involved. PS Gate Hakima police have launched a detailed investigation, with senior officials working to trace the entire network behind the counterfeit racket.
