Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to inclusive development under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur on Friday held a meeting with representatives of various blind unions of Punjab and gave a patient hearing to their issues and demands.
The meeting, held at Punjab Bhawan, focused on concerns related to employment, welfare measures and pending vacancies under the Divyang (Persons with Disabilities) quota. Dr. Baljit Kaur assured the representatives that all genuine demands would be addressed on a priority basis and directed concerned officials to take immediate steps to fill vacant posts reserved for persons with disabilities at the earliest.
The Minister clarified that matters falling within the department’s jurisdiction would be resolved without delay, while issues requiring policy-level intervention would be taken up comprehensively with the government for appropriate decisions.
Emphasising the state government’s vision, Dr. Baljit Kaur said Punjab is continuously working to empower persons with disabilities, promote their self-reliance and ensure their meaningful integration into the mainstream of society. She added that inclusive governance remains a key priority of the Mann-led government.
The meeting concluded in a positive and cordial atmosphere. Senior officials present included Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Pratap, Director Dr. Sheena Aggarwal, Joint Secretary Anand Sagar Sharma, Deputy Director Amarjit Singh Bhullar, Ravinder Singh Rahi, and other senior officers.
