CM Mann Urges Officers to Focus on Public Welfare at MGSIPA

Chandigarh :

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann called on officers of the All India and Central Services to ensure that every administrative decision and action delivers tangible benefits to the common people. Speaking to 32 IPS, IRS, and other officer trainees attending the Special Foundation Course (SFC) at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Mann emphasized that governance should be evaluated based on its real impact on citizens’ lives.
Congratulating MGSIPA for being ranked among the top five state administrative training institutes in India, the Chief Minister highlighted Punjab’s commitment to professional and accountable administration, noting the state’s ongoing “Education Revolution” to improve employee training and enhance public service delivery.
Trainee officers praised several initiatives of the Punjab government, including town planning, road infrastructure, education and health reforms, sports promotion, rural development, and progress in emerging sectors like food processing. They also commended the hospitality extended to them during their stay.
CM Mann underscored Punjab’s rich cultural and historical heritage, the resilience of its people, and their global achievements. He urged officers to exercise their authority responsibly and work diligently for the welfare of the public.
The SFC, conducted in collaboration with the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, features lectures, field visits, and interactive sessions designed to strengthen administrative and governance skills.
Over the past three and a half years, MGSIPA has conducted nearly 1,500 training programs benefiting more than 50,000 employees, and signed 33 MoUs with national and international institutions for capacity building and research. The institute has also been awarded a 3-star rating by the Government of India’s Capacity Building Commission, the highest among state training institutes.
The session concluded with officers lauding the Chief Minister and the Punjab government for initiatives that have made the state a model in governance, education, infrastructure, and citizen-centric development.
