Mohali :
Police have arrested Neeraj, a family servant, in connection with the murder of Ashok Kumari, wife of former Punjab Additional Advocate General Krishna Kumar Goyal. Investigations revealed that Neeraj had conspired with accomplices to carry out the crime.
Authorities said police teams are actively searching for the remaining two accomplices. Despite careful planning by the accused, Neeraj broke down during interrogation and disclosed the entire plot.
Planned Attack
Police investigations indicate that Neeraj and his accomplices specifically targeted the house knowing Ashok Kumari would be alone. The accused was initially suspected after being found tied to a chair without any injuries, while the deceased had resisted the attackers. During questioning, Neeraj admitted to orchestrating the murder with his partners.
Loot and Escape
The accused and accomplices reportedly fled with 40 tolas of gold and ₹8.5 lakh in cash. CCTV footage showed them traveling by auto from the house via Phase-5 PTL Chowk and Phase-2 to the railway station. SP City Dilpreet confirmed that raids are ongoing and the remaining suspects will be apprehended soon.
Discovery of Crime
The crime was discovered Tuesday morning when the housemaid arrived at the Phase-5 residence and found Ashok Kumari dead on the floor, with Neeraj tied to a chair. She immediately informed the police. Forensic teams collected evidence at the scene, and CCTV footage captured two suspects entering the premises.
Neeraj, aged 25, has been employed with the Goyal family for nearly nine years. At the time of the murder, Krishna Kumar Goyal was in Muscat, Oman, visiting his daughter and is now returning to India.
Police continue their investigation to bring all accused to justice.
