In view of the severe cold and dense fog, all schools in Punjab—including government, aided, recognised, and private institutions—will remain closed until January 13. Earlier, schools were directed to remain closed only till January 7.
The state recorded a significant drop in temperatures, with Bathinda being the coldest at 4.6°C. Other cities recorded low temperatures as follows: Amritsar 7.5°C, Ludhiana 6.6°C, Patiala 7.1°C, and Gurdaspur 5.7°C, according to the state weather office.
