A swift police operation following a firing incident in the Dhakoli Police Station area led to the arrest of the accused within hours, while one person lost his life and another was injured.
According to police officials, during routine patrolling under the supervision of SSP SAS Nagar Shri Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shri Manpreet Singh, PPS, and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Zirakpur, Mrs. Ghazalpreet Kaur, IPS, information was received that a person had opened fire on two individuals in the Dhakoli area.
Acting promptly on the information, police launched a manhunt against the accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh. The district was sealed, barricades were erected, PCR teams were activated, and multiple police teams were deployed in and around the Dhakoli Police Station area. Senior officers personally monitored the search operation.
Both injured persons were rushed to the hospital by the police. One of the victims, Prince Kumar, son of Narinder Kumar, resident of House No. 876, Sector 26, Panchkula, succumbed to his injuries at the spot. The second victim, Bharat Bhushan, son of Trilok Chand, resident of Flat No. 25-B, Motia Harmony Green, Kishanpura, was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
On the statement of Bharat Bhushan, FIR No. 13 dated 02.02.2026 was registered at Dhakoli Police Station under Sections 103 and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Radhe Homes, Kishanpura, District SAS Nagar.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused, who works as a bouncer, had an altercation with the deceased and the complainant. In a fit of anger, he allegedly fired at both using his licensed weapon.
Within 5–6 hours, SAS Nagar Police teams traced and arrested the accused using human intelligence and technical inputs. A licensed .32 bore revolver along with empty cartridges was recovered from his possession. Police have initiated proceedings to cancel the accused’s arms licence.
