Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali Wins National Green School Award

Mohali:
Gian Jyoti Global School, Phase II, Mohali, has achieved a significant milestone by winning the National Green School Award for its outstanding contribution to environmental protection and sustainable development. The award was presented at a national-level समारोह organized by the Government of India at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, and was received by Principal Gian Jyot on behalf of the school.

Notably, Gian Jyoti Global School is the only private school from Mohali district to receive this prestigious honour. While a total of 23 schools from the district were awarded, all others were government institutions, highlighting the school’s exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability.

The award was conferred following a rigorous Green School Audit conducted under the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The school impressed the jury with several impactful initiatives, including the development of a Zero-Waste Campus, where over 90 percent of waste is recycled or composted. By adopting solar energy, the school has reduced conventional electricity consumption by nearly 30 percent.

To promote water conservation, the campus is equipped with an advanced rainwater harvesting system, and the school has also been declared completely single-use plastic free.
