Derabassi (SAS Nagar), 9 February 2026: MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa inaugurated the construction of the Bakarpur to Janaitpur road, a long-awaited infrastructure project under the Municipal Council Derabassi. The 8,500-feet-long and 17-feet-wide road is being built at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore and is expected to provide significant relief to local residents by improving connectivity and easing traffic movement. Speaking at the event, MLA Randhawa emphasized the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure in the region. “The completion of this road will provide great convenience to the people, and the pace of development work in the area will increase,” he said. He highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party government, led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has prioritized rapid road repairs and new construction projects across the state. Randhawa also stressed the importance of fostering mutual harmony in villages beyond party lines. “Continuous efforts are being made to make Punjab a happy and prosperous state,” he said, adding that the road construction will be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Clear instructions have been given to the concerned officials to ensure high-quality work and timely completion without any negligence. He further noted that the main objective of the project is to provide better facilities to the people of the constituency. The new road is expected to greatly improve the local traffic system and enhance accessibility for residents, supporting both daily commute and regional development activities. The foundation-laying ceremony saw the presence of city council president, councillors, block party leaders, officials, and party workers, reflecting strong community support for the project. MLA Randhawa assured that the government’s commitment to development would continue, with more infrastructure initiatives planned for the coming months. The Bakarpur–Janaitpur road project is part of a broader effort by the state government to modernize roads and improve public amenities, aiming to create a more accessible, safe, and prosperous environment for residents of Derabassi and surrounding areas.
