PM Modi Greets Nation on Science Day Honours C.V. Raman

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on National Science Day, February 28, celebrating India’s spirit of research, innovation and scientific curiosity. He paid tribute to Nobel laureate C. V. Raman for his discovery of the Raman Effect, which earned India global recognition in science. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the day honours the groundbreaking discovery that placed Indian research firmly on the world map. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering youth, strengthening research ecosystems and leveraging science and technology for national development and global good.
This year’s theme, “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat,” highlights the role of women researchers in advancing India’s vision of becoming a developed nation. The national-level celebrations are being organised by the Department of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology at Vigyan Bhawan. The programme includes National Science Day lectures chaired by Principal Scientific Adviser Professor Ajay K. Sood, with experts speaking on indigenous aerospace and defence technologies, critical metals and materials, and direct-to-mobile broadcasting.
