MLA Kulwant Singh said the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is making strong efforts to promote sports and improve facilities for athletes across the state. He stated that the government is committed to creating a supportive environment where sportspersons can pursue their passion without facing difficulties.
Kulwant Singh made these remarks while encouraging players and organisers during the third Kabaddi Mahakumbh organised by Pir Baba Astali Ji and Amar Shaheed Jathedar Baba Hanuman Singh Ji Sports Club (Regd.) in village Gobindgarh. Addressing the gathering, the MLA said the government is focusing on strengthening sports infrastructure throughout Punjab, including in Mohali district. He highlighted that several sports stadiums are being developed so that young boys and girls can actively participate in sports and bring recognition to their families, the state and the country.Appreciating the organisers, Kulwant Singh congratulated the tournament managers, including Meet Gujjar, Ravi Bajwa and Aman Bajwa, for successfully organising the Kabaddi Mahakumbh. He said their dedication towards promoting sports is inspiring for the region and encourages other communities to organise similar tournaments.
The MLA also emphasised the importance of sports in shaping the character and discipline of youth. He urged parents to motivate their children to balance both sports and education, noting that sports help develop confidence, physical fitness and leadership qualities among young people.
Kulwant Singh assured the organisers and players that he would continue to support sports initiatives and help provide better opportunities and platforms for emerging athletes. He added that efforts would be made to organise sports tournaments on a larger scale in the future to further promote sports culture in the region. A large number of sports lovers and local residents attended the event, showing strong enthusiasm for the tournament and the promotion of sports in the area.
