Awareness Play on Oral Hygiene Staged at PHC Gharuan

Mohali : In a continued effort to promote better public health, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh organised an awareness initiative at the Primary Health Center (PHC) Gharuan. As part of the programme, an educational play focusing on oral hygiene was presented in the OPD by students of Saraswati Nursing College, Gharuan.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangita Jain and the leadership of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Preet Mohan Singh Khurana. The play aimed to spread awareness among patients about the importance of maintaining proper oral hygiene in a simple and engaging manner.
Through the performance, students highlighted the consequences of neglecting dental care, including tooth decay, gum diseases, and bad breath. The play also emphasised how adopting good oral habits can lead to a healthier and happier life.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Preet Mohan Singh Khurana stressed that oral hygiene is a crucial component of overall health and should not be overlooked. He said such awareness programmes play a significant role in encouraging people to adopt healthy practices.
He advised everyone to brush their teeth at least twice a day and undergo regular dental check-ups.Medical Officer (Dental) Dr. Hardeep Kaur also spoke on the occasion, pointing out that oral health is often ignored, leading to a rise in dental problems. She urged people to reduce the intake of sugary foods, maintain proper brushing techniques, and seek timely dental consultations to prevent complications.
Other staff members present during the event included Medical Officers Dr. Saroj and Dr. Rahul, Staff Nurses Amandeep Kaur and Raman, and BSA Ishmeet Kaur.
The initiative was well received by patients and visitors, contributing to increased awareness about the importance of oral care.
