Mohali: Tightening its noose around violators, the Municipal Corporation Mohali has started an anti-encroachment drive. The tehbazari wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) Mohali Zone 1, today removed encroachments by the shopkeepers in corridors of Showrooms in Phase 5 Market, as part of its drive under the directions of Joint Commissioner MC Mohali Damandeep Kaur PCS.
A team of MC staff, led by Tehbazari Superintendent Sujit Singh, Anil Kumar removed handcarts (rehris), urniture and other items stacked in the corridors and along the roadside and footpaths. Besides, materials of vegetable and fruit vendors kept along the road and streets were also removed.
Joint Commissioner MC Mohali Ms Damandeep Kaur said shopkeepers and vendors should not encroach upon any part of public land/ streets or roads to carry out their businesses as the corporation had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against any type of encroachments.
Teams of MC Mohali today removed several encroachments in front corridor of Vishal Mega Mart and Reliance in Phase 5 Market.
Acting on the news published in same columns of The Aman Sandesh Times yesterday regarding encroachments by shopkeepers in the corridors in Markets of Mohali, a team came into action.
