The Entertainment Press Association (EPA), in collaboration with Shalby Multispecialty Hospital, Mohali, organized a free medical check-up camp today for journalists from various media platforms including TV channels, web portals, and online news outlets. Around 30 journalists attended the camp, which was aimed at promoting health awareness among the media fraternity.
The camp featured expert consultations from renowned doctors including Dr. Ashwani Sachdeva (Senior Surgical Consultant), Dr. Arvind Kaul (Cardiology Expert), and Dr. Rakesh Redhu (Consultant Neurosurgeon). The doctors shared their insights and experiences on various health issues, highlighting the increasing need for timely medical intervention and lifestyle changes.
During the event, Dr. Arvind Kaul emphasized the alarming rise in heart-related diseases and urged individuals to adopt a healthier lifestyle to prevent heart attacks. Dr. Rakesh Redhu addressed the impact of rising stress levels on neurological health and noted that diseases linked to stress are increasing at a rapid rate. He also highlighted Shalby Hospital’s advanced infrastructure, including robotic surgeries and an expert oncology team, positioning it as a leading cancer treatment center in Eastern India.
A notable mention was made of a recent successful surgery performed by Shalby Hospital’s oncology surgical team, where a rare and advanced abdominal cancer case of a 54-year-old patient, Rajinder Kaur, was treated effectively.
On the occasion, the EPA team honored the doctors for their contributions. EPA President Kulwant Gill stated that journalists work tirelessly day and night, and their health must be prioritized. He expressed gratitude to Shalby Hospital for supporting the cause.
Key contributors to the event included social activist Harinder Pal Singh Harry and S. Sohan Singh, AGM of Shalby Hospital, who were also felicitated. Shalby Hospital’s Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Gladwin Sandeep Nair, thanked the surgical team for their excellence and expressed appreciation for the continued support of the media. He assured that Shalby Hospital remains committed to helping the media community whenever needed.
The event saw the presence of EPA Chairman Jashan Gill, Treasurer Dinesh Kumar, Senior Vice Presidents Sandeep Joshi and Sukhwinder Kaur Sukhhi, Patron S. Jagtar Singh Bhullar, General Secretary Tejinder Kaur, and several other executive and advisory members of the EPA, along with senior journalists Parvesh Chauhan, Shaftir Rehman, Pradeep Kumar Sharma, and Beenu Sharma.
Chairman Jashan Gill reaffirmed EPA’s commitment to humanitarian service and assured that such initiatives will continue in the future.
