The Aonla Police in Bareilly have uncovered a large-scale counterfeit manufacturing and distribution racket involving electric geysers falsely branded under the name of Bajaj. An FIR has been registered under Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
The case was filed on the complaint of Speed Networks, Chandigarh, the authorized representative of Bajaj Electricals Limited. According to the complaint, the accused were allegedly assembling and circulating duplicate electric geysers and other electrical and electronic products by illegally using Bajaj’s trademark on a massive scale.
Police officials stated that the counterfeit products were of substandard quality and posed serious life-threatening risks to consumers. In addition to endangering public safety, the illegal operation caused significant damage to the brand’s reputation and goodwill.
The complaint further pointed out that the activities amounted to clear violations of both the Copyright Act and the Trade Marks Act, and demanded strict legal action against all individuals involved in the racket.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Aonla Police registered the FIR and launched a detailed investigation. Senior police officials are closely monitoring the case, and efforts are underway to identify the entire supply chain, arrest the accused, and seize all counterfeit geysers and related materials found at the premises.
Police authorities confirmed that further legal action will be taken as the investigation progresses.
