India, Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire After Fresh Talks

THE AMAN SNADESH TIMES

New Delhi :

Pakistan reached out to India, and the ceasefire was negotiated directly between the two countries, the government said on Saturday, confirming the truce after days of military action and heightened tension between the two neighbours. This came after US President Donald Trump claimed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was the result of US-mediated talks.

“The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan called the DGMO of India at 15.30 hours (3.30 pm) this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would cease all firing and military action on land, in the air, and at sea with effect from 1700 hours (5 pm),” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.

The Foreign Secretary, in a brief press conference announcing the ceasefire agreement, added, “Instructions have been given on both sides to implement this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will speak again on May 12.
