Rahul Calls Kerala ‘Home’, Backs UDF as Congress Unveils 92 Candidates

Team UDF is Team Keralam': Rahul Gandhi says Kerala is ready for change ahead of Assembly elections - The Economic Times

Thiruvananthapuram : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described Kerala as his “home” and its people as “family,” reaffirming his commitment to the state’s future while expressing confidence that the United Democratic Front (UDF) will form the next government.“The message from Kerala is clear — people want a government that listens, understands, and delivers with honesty,” he said, highlighting the party’s focus on governance and public trust ahead of the Assembly elections.
His remarks came a day after the Congress announced its list of 92 candidates for the April 9 polls, signalling a strategic push to challenge the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF). In a key decision, the party has chosen not to field any of its Members of Parliament, instead relying on state-level leadership to lead the campaign.
The move follows internal discussions within the party, with leaders opting to strengthen grassroots representation rather than deploy national figures.
The Congress will contest 92 seats, while the remaining constituencies will be fought by its UDF allies and select Independent candidates, as part of a coordinated electoral strategy.
