
Puducherry : The Bharatiya Janata Party on today released its first list of nine candidates for the April 9 Assembly elections in Puducherry, following a seat-sharing agreement with allies.As per the pact, the ruling All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) will contest 16 seats, while the BJP-AIADMK combine will fight the remaining 14 seats.
The BJP has also allocated two seats each to the AIADMK and the Lakshia Jananayaga Katchi (LJK).
Key BJP candidates include PML Kalyanasundaram (Kalapet), GNS Rajasekaran (Thirunallar), A Namassivayam (Mannadipet), and VP Ramalingame (Rajbhavan), among others.
The alliance arrangement was finalised after Chief Minister N Rangasamy held discussions with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Polling for all 30 seats will be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4.
