Raghav Chadha, 6 AAP MPs Join BJP; AAP Alleges “Operation Lotus”

New Dehli :

Senior AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha today announced that he and six other party MPs are quitting AAP and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), calling it a “constitutional merger” under anti-defection rules.
Chadha, along with MPs including Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Rajinder Gupta and Vikram Sahni, said nearly two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha strength is part of the move.
He said the decision came after AAP allegedly drifted from its “honest politics” roots, adding that a formal letter has been submitted to the Rajya Sabha Chairman under constitutional provisions.
AAP rejected the move, with leader Sanjay Singh alleging it is part of “Operation Lotus” by the BJP to destabilise opposition parties.
Parliamentary authorities will now examine the claim before deciding on the MPs’ status, which could significantly impact AAP’s representation in the Upper House.
