Maanayata Dutt became emotional at the announcement event of Khalnayak Returns in Mumbai today as her husband, actor Sanjay Dutt, unveiled the film’s official poster and teaser.
She was seen holding back tears during the event and later shared a warm hug with producer Aksha Kamboj, while Sanjay Dutt stood beside her on stage. Videos from the event have since gone viral on social media.
Speaking at the event, Maanayata said she had “goosebumps” after watching the announcement video and described the sequel as a long-awaited passion project for Sanjay Dutt. She said the actor had faced many ups and downs in his life, and the love of fans had always supported him. She also noted that the character Ballu Balram from Khal Nayak remained one of his most iconic roles.
Maanayata further revealed that discussions about the sequel had been ongoing for over a decade and often came up during casual family conversations. She said Khalnayak Returns would be the first production under Aspect Entertainment, with Jio Studios and Three Dimension Motion Pictures as co-producers.
The sequel revisits Sanjay Dutt’s famous anti-hero role from the 1993 film Khal Nayak, directed by Subhash Ghai, which also starred Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff and became a major box office success.
