On the occasion of International Labour Day, a special “Shramik Samman Samaroh” was organised in Phase 3A, Mohali to honour workers from various sectors for their contribution to society.
The event was hosted by Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, General Secretary of Aam Aadmi Party Punjab and Chairman of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
During the programme, more than 200 workers were felicitated with certificates and gifts. The honoured workers included sanitation staff, garbage collectors, car washers, newspaper distributors, electricity linemen and gardening workers.
Dr. Ahluwalia interacted with the workers and listened to their issues and suggestions, assuring that their concerns would be addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the working class is the backbone of society and plays a crucial role in the progress of the state and the country. He also highlighted various welfare schemes being implemented by the Punjab government for labour welfare, including healthcare, social security and labour registration initiatives.
He announced that labour registration camps will soon be organised across Mohali wards to ensure workers benefit from government schemes.
A large number of local residents and social workers attended the event. Workers expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying such initiatives boost their morale and dignity.
