Care Companion Program Training Held at District Hospital

A master training session on the ‘Care Companion Program’ (CCP) was organised at the District Hospital, Mohali, with participation from nursing staff to strengthen patient care awareness among families and attendants.
Addressing the session, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that the objective of the program is to train family members and caregivers in basic patient care practices to ensure faster recovery and avoid complications.
She emphasized that awareness about cleanliness, proper medication usage, nutritious diet, and healthy lifestyle habits plays a key role in improving patient outcomes.
Focus on infection control and hygiene
Program Coordinator Dr. Atul highlighted that the initiative aims to improve healthcare delivery by equipping hospital staff to guide patients and their families effectively.
He stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene to prevent infections, stating that poor cleanliness can worsen patient conditions and also affect caregivers. He also recommended proper nutrition and light physical activity for recovering patients.
Staff participation and certification
On the occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jain distributed participation certificates to nursing staff. Senior Medical Officer Dr. Parminderjit Singh, Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Gupta, Deputy Mass Media Officer Daljit Kaur, Nursing Sister Sukhwinder Kaur, and other hospital staff were also present during the training session.
